Initial phase, disassembling the Honda CRM 50.. :( |
On the left photo, handling in the wheel, the front double-disc Grimeca wheel was already adapted in the front inverted suspension from the Gilera Chrono 125.
Front Grimeca wheel, with the Yamaha RD 350 brake calipers |
The frame was already *naked*, so it was time to wash it all, the frame was never disassembled before, since we bought the bike in 2nd hand (7 years ago). |
A zoom preview of the front wheel, giving a shot on the double disc transformation effect, it was really nice indeed, we love it! |
A preview of the Yamaha DT 125R used engine, it's appearance wasn't the best, but what count its the internal components, and they were all fine. We bought this engine for a very very cheap price indeed.. |
More photos of the engine evolution, 2 Yamaha TZR 125 cylinder heads with new combustion chamber for the new bore, using one viton o'ring, also polished and new squish for the 2 desired compression ratios. |
Another photos of the engine, on the left side the clutch and gears, on the right photo, a preview of the electrical part. |
Two views of the Yamaha TZR 125 stock cylinder, deeply transformed/tuned, bored with iron cast sleeve, port timings and angles changed, boost ports and passages reshaped for higher gas flow. |
On the left, the engine disassembled, with crankcases, gears and crankshaft all separated. |
The piston, an WISECO forged one using two piston rings. |
This is a Yamaha TZR 125 cylinder, this will be the base for the tune of this engine, as you can see on the left photo, the cylinder has the piston glue in the cylinder sleeve with the con-rod blasted as well, but no problemo! :) |
The low engine, already assembled without the cylinder. |
The Yamaha TZR 125 cylinder and cylinder head on left, and on the right photo, the comparison between the stock Honda CRM 50 radiator with the Yamaha DT 125R stock radiator.
Another preview of the engine, the electric part view. |
The wheels.. As you can see, on the left photo, the GRIMECA Honda NS1 complete wheels, in a very bad shape! On the right photo, the front wheel already finished with the double disc transformation! We had to use another front NS1 wheel, cut the interior off and then unite with the correct alignment with the other wheel! |
The engine already assembled & tuned. |
On the left photo, the front inverted suspension from a Gilera Chrono 125, on the right photo, the alloy Honda XR 600 swingarm, both will be adapted on the Honda CRM 50 frame. |
The chassis was on José Fernandes workshop for the adaptations procedure, here pictures of the material. |
When the wheels were finished, they had a sand-jact treatment and became grey, on the right photo, the wheels already painted with red ferrari color. |
Two previews of the Honda CRM 50 frame already with some transformations. |
Another preview of the front wheel, already with the double disc system operational. |
Some transformations made on the Honda CRM 50 frame, in order to adapt the new front inverted suspension from the Gilera Chrono 125. |
The rear wheel was already adapted in the alluminium Honda XR 600 swingarm. |
The end result of the preview transformation on the frame, aswell as a detail photo of the frame where the Yamaha DT 125R will fit. |
The comparison, between the ancient blue/polished rim, and the rear Grimeca wheel, already with the Dunlop 115/50x17' slick tyre installed. The right photo, it's our laptop running the RacingSM Software for calculating the gear ratios and losses for the Yamaha TZR 125 gearbox! |
Finally, at José Fernandes workshop, we saw the Honda CRR new form, with the NS1 wheels & slicks, Honda XR 600 swingarm and front inverted suspension from the Gilera Chrono 125, the 2 Yamaha DT 125R radiators aswell. |

Two different perspectives of the Honda CRR prototype... |
Jose Fernandes work was done, the Honda CRR was now ready to get the engine @ LuFo's workshop. |
Another ones, this time with the gas tank assembled, to have the measures of height because of the cylinder. |
Another views of the Honda CRR already in the tow. |
More perspectives of the Honda CRR prototype with the rear, lateral and front fenders semi-assembled to get the idea of the final product. |

Steering damper fitted in the chassis and on the left photo, the 16 and 17 front sprockets already treated. |
Another two photos.. |
The intake manifold made by LuFo in alloy, before and after the treatment. |
On the left photo, the charismatic and mediatic dodger Mário Marques, also known as "TURBINAS"! The final view of the Honda CRR would be very similar to this we think.. :) |
The CRR on my Ibiza TDI's tow, ready to go to LuFo's workshop to get the engine mounted in the chassis. |
Getting the measures of the height-soil, because the exhaust belly is too big, and we had to change the position of the rear suspension aswell as the XR 600 swingarm to get the ideal height of the mainframe in order the exhaust won't touch the ground.. |
CRR on LuFo's bench ready for the "surgery". On the right photo, the engine already assembled in the chassis. |
Two detail photos of the 'fatty' exhaust, that will fit the Honda CRR :) |
More views of the engine assembled in the chassis.. |
Now, the steering damper adaptation on the front suspension, and on the right photo, the 2 Yamaha DT 125R radiators already installed in the mainframe of the Honda CRR. |
Another ones.. |
Transformations made on the mainframe, to get the Yamaha DT 125R engine on the frame, on the right photo a view of the rear wheel & XR 600 swingarm. |
A detail photo about the Yamaha DTR 125 tuned engine.
On the right photo, a detail about the front suspensions aswell as the DTR 125 radiator.. |
The frame was already transformed by José Fernandes, ready to have the sandcast treatment and painted with chrome-grey. |
Reading the values of the electric part with a multimeter. |
LuFo decided to make another exhaust expansion chamber with another measures, based on SPES theory, making the engine more linear, we'll try both and dyno them to make sure we'll use the more peaky and powerfull... |
Ready to have LuFo's exhaust assembled!!! |
All the iron/alloy parts were chromed/polished respectively, a detail of the Honda XR 600 swingarm, IT'S A MIRROR! :D |
Exhaust assembled! |
New bearings for the Honda XR 600 swingarm as well as for the front suspension. On the right photo, the frame already with the sandcast treatment and painted in grey. |

LuFo making some transformations in the exhaust's curve & nipple.
Right photo, a view of the Yamaha TZR 50 electric part. |
Another photos of the parts polished/chromed.. |
The TZR 50 flywheel and another perspective of the exhaust assembled. |
The frame already painted with the chromed/polished parts already assembled, only the brake calipers and some other small details aren't assembled! |

The CRR is finally ready to roll on! |
A detail photo about the teflon modified to be used on the rear suspension to get more rigidity.
On the right photo, a detail about the transformation made on the Honda XR 600 swingarm, it had to be cut because of the DTR engine, that fits on the frame + swingarm. |
